Howdy All,
Reading the Goldman website about recruiting, they discuss finding the right personality type very prominently in their screening process. On the flip side, I would assume that one must have some very strong Industry specific skills to be working here.
Does Goldman have a strong base of military persons working in the company? I know there are many companies that have very specific recruiting processes and programs for junior military officers (O-3/O-4 range).
Is Goldman's a good place for a armed forces junkie to enter into the workforce or would you suggest working somewhere else and getting industry knowledge, and then applying to Goldman in a year or two?
If it helps,
Was an enlisted Marine for 3 yrs -
Attended and graduated Naval Academy - BS Math/Oceanography
Commissioned Naval Officer for 5 years in Surface Warfare (driving ships).
Kinda curious if I would be turned away for lack of industry exp.
Thanks in advance.

my previous manager at goldman was ex navy.. Goldman likes to "mold" employees or I'd like to call it brainwash... ex military people represent a perfect example of a candidate who has potential for discipline, takes orders with no questions etc... I hated my experience at goldman and totally did not buy into the Goldman mystique.. If you are a person who wants an entrepreneurial environment instead of a lemming going around defining himself as a "goldman" person, and has a personality or any sort of self sufficiency or independence.. look elsewhere..
