In Reply To: You really shouldn't be so concerned with your GPA. A 3.71 is amazing. If you are not invited to an interview it will definitely not be because of academics. I have a 3.36 and also go to a target school. I've already gotten an offer from Citigroup and JPMorgan and have made it to second rounds with GS. It??s so much more important to have a good resume with some interesting finance-related job experience than to be hung-up on that one number. Also, once you do get to the interview DO NOT MAKE EXUCUSES FOR YOUR GPA. More than likely you??ll only have 30 minutes in your first interview and spending time going over why you don??t have a 4.0 will not impress the interviewer.
Message: I agree with what you said. Making excuses is rarely wise. I have known some 4.0 people who were idiots but knew how to play the grade game. I always saw school as a place of learning, not of grades. I took challenging courses that interested me. My G.P.A. suffered. I am better off for my decisions.
