Yea the econ classes I did poorly in were not directly relevant to what I want to do at Goldman anyway (which is sales and trading). For example, I did badly in a class that mainly dealt with portfolio management.
I obviously will list my cumulative GPA and not my major GPA, and I doubt someone would bother to calculate my major GPA.
Still, does anyone know why the firms ask for your transcript?

They will compute your major GPA. All on-line employment applications ask you to provide that info. Also, they will look at specific course grades.
