In Reply To: As a current ECLP finishing up my 4th and final rotation, I would say that you should temper your expectations before coming on. GE is a meritocracy and as such, even though you will be a member of a premier training program within the business, it does not buy you any favors. While on program you will not have any direct reports, and you will not have any management responsibilities (at least not any lasting more than the 6 months of the rotation). However you will get a great view of the company and set yourself up for a really good position off program. If there is an industry or business that you feel you need to be in immediately, then this is not the program for you.
Message: Sarge789, Thanks for the insight. My expectations are based on the fear of UNKNOWN. In general, companies are becoming Meritocracies due to enormous business pressures. It is not like interviewing for a job and knowing your responsibilties before hand. No one has a clue as to what happens after the program completion, what position is offered or it is a self select. What are the financial & career gains, after the program completion? With a kid, I need to make a decision that doesn't screws my dependants. thanks
