It depends on the type (nationality) of your contract: some people get housing paid for, but most don't. Also, the allowances given are very unfair. Let's make an example: consider a French and a Spanish, each with a contract in his own country, both assigned to the UK. Spanish base salary is lower because the cost of living in Spain is lower. The UK is more expensive so they are both entitled to allowances. But the allowances these two people get for moving to the UK are almost the same, meaning the French will be much better off in the UK. It is very stupid and unfair, but that's the way it is. It's an example of the nightmare burocracy mentioned before. |
