I am not sure that Title VII would allow an employer to proactively hire gays. The statute is worded such that it makes it illegal to discriminate in the hiring process on the basis of race, sex, GENDER PREFERENCE, etc.
So the same law that protects your rights, also should eliminate the hiring practice that you are seeking.
The best advice was already given based in an early response to you - focus on your skills and talents. That is the only reason that an employer should decide to hire or not hire you. |

Neither Title VII nor any other federal law currently makes it illegal to discriminate in hiring or employment on the basis of sexual orientation. Only the as-yet-unpassed Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) would do that. But ENDA would not include sexual orientation as part of federal Affirmative Action.
The original questioner did not inquire about any type of preferential hiring treatment based on sexual orientation, which most companies would disregard as not germaine to the education, skills and experience required for most positions. I interpreted the original question as merely inquiring about which companies voluntarily have added sexual orientation to their company non-discrimination policy, or have other gay-friendly personnel policies in effect such as a GLBT employee resource group, domestic partner benefits, inclusive diversity training programs, inclusive recruiting outreach, etc. Many top companies have such policies in effect to help attract the most qualified candidates regardless of sexual orientation (not because of it). I am happy to say that Ford Motor Company is one of these.
