Are all financial service companies the same, whereas when your in training they ask you go out and find 100-200 contacts. Or are some companies different in the beginning of their training process. How is AMEX advisory training? Or Primerica?
And also do you always have to go door to door to sell your products. I want to advise people in their finances. I went to school to major in finance, not sales. Is that all the financial services companies want you to do because lately it seems the only way to get in the door of an investment firm (which is what I want to do), you need to be equipped with your liscenses. |

What ever you do, DO NOT work for Primerica. They take any bum off the street as long as they can sell there product. no finance experience required! I don't like the sound of that. I know this from experience. In college I worked for them for a few days and found it to be horrible.
I believe that all financial planners have to first be sales people. You can be a financial genius, but if you can't communicate it to a client and get them to trust and work with you then failure is inevitable.
Have you ever heard of cold calling?
I think a sales/marketing major would be better suited for a job in financial services. Remember that this is just my opinion on the subject. I have researched this part of the job industry (i'm a finance major) and decided to go into banking and corporate finance for that very reason.
