Typically, the CFA will be of no use in financial advising.
The typical FA position is basically a sales position. You have to know and understand what your selling and how it fits into the client's overall financial picture. However, the main thing is sell, sell, sell.
The only way the CFA would be of use would be if you go to work for basically a money management company where you are managing large portfolios for high net worth individuals, trusts, not-for-profits, etc. In that case, your focus is investment maanagement versus selling. |
