I'm currently studying at St Johns in NYC for my MBA. I'm on a g-1 visa and need advice on looking for companies in the financial sector who sponsor. Has anyone had this problem before? I want to work in NYC and appreciate anyone's help. My friend is helping me with this process and she can be reached at ML@sap8.com.
Thanks in Advance!

Iian,
I just received my Green Card, via sponsorship; the process was about three years. After graduation you will be granted "Optional Practical Trainee "OPT" (meaning one year work permit anywhere in the USA) this will give you enough time.
You need to search for your desired job, and mention sponsorship during the 2nd interview, because if the company calls you for 2nd interview, it means they are interested, and they will most likely sponsor you. It is the best to mention that you will be in charge of financial expense for your paperwork, and all you need from them is couple of hassle free signatures! (As I did)
Most of the large companies do NOT sponsor, it is mentioned on the job requirement.(don??t forget it is a soft recession, and job market is not that great for Americans) My advice is to look for private, small business sector (companies with minimum nine Employees, the tax ID is required??) small companies either do not have Human Resource or the human department is not as strict as larger firm. Also be aware that your original nationality may effect the length of process, if u are from 3rd world/ undeveloped countries as i am, make sure to hire a professional attorney.
Good luck.
