My best advice would be to stay out of financial services altogether unless it is a salaried position, commensurate to your educational level. Unless you have a world of contacts--and contacts with lots of money to invest and referrals to give--you are getting into an industry with almost impossible barriers to entry. |

It sounds like you have a bad taste in your mouth when it comes to the financial services arena. You can make more money working by commission than you could ever make at a salaried position. You don't need to make cold calls to create relationships and thus new contacts continually. Just because it didn't work for you doesn't mean that someone else can't do well in financial services.
