In Reply To: If there are any international students, I have this question: If I am an international student, can I take a break for 1 semester from school, or I have to study without interruptions?
Message: As far as I know you can take a break and register later for another semester. However, you can not stay in the host country (USA, I suppose?). I think there are some important reasons that could serve as an appropriate explanation (maybe serious illness and need in special treatment?). It is hard but you can change a visa status, for example, as tourist or visitor. If you have J-1 visa and have been in US for more than three months, you can apply for academic training program. It is some kind of internship but you have to get a work authorisation. It is also must be related to your major. If you have F-1 status, you have to be in the country for 9 months first. Anyway, you have to consult at International Services Office, that must be in any university or school. There are many well-informed and trained specialists. Good luck!
