I'm a pretty in demand freelancer in NYC and I've worked at DTAS and at RGA. SO has now shaved his head and wearing black T shirt and black jeans..a Bob Greenberg gone wrong. Talked his way in thru Barry Waxman (with whom he shares an interest in cooking) and is hardly setting the place on fire..at least on the Subaru and Verizon biz. But hey, he's employed and will no doubt be replaced as RGA raises the ante on becoming more full service than just execution.
Of course, digitas folk assume that they hold the keys to the digital future and everyone else is clueless. Which is a mistake. A big one. |

I always respected SO. He was smart and did have some good ideas. He just wasn't the right guy to transform Digitas creatively. He was at the end of his career without the energy needed to do it; didn't like to fire bad people, etc. I'm sure he's doing great at RGA on more focused accounts and not serving as ECD.
NY office still needs some stronger creatives and account people at senior levels.
