The culture of the GT mind is in all Corporations. A single plan with a huge ego. They come into paradise with a chip and spin through like a tornado. Yes GT, you would have been noticed if you focused on the people rather than the employee with no name. You will build your teams but they will not be friends. Assasins, spies and short term marriages. I am not part of the Creative team which so many people annihilate in the vault. I simply listen and watch, as I do my work, listening and watching. How can you be so powerful and old and not have learned the most important lesson in management 101. Know you people through their hearts and goals. Gain their trust. Ask question. Act like you care about your people and the Company.
Yes the GT's come and go. Some will be know as the destroyer and blame everyone until their is no one left. The the Big Boys and Girls, yes GT there are bigger people than you around, will eventually catch up to you in a year or two and things will change again. Look close to you. Very close. You may run into a younger GT with big goals and self importance and the devil may judge you without when your defense team is sleeping...Goodnight for now dwatch, exwhyzee and callemlikeiseezem...Keep the faith..... |

Amazing what a twisted culture the agency has spawned. It's clear been a great ride for a select group -- Dk has made his hundred million and many of his Bain buddies have become millionaires in their own right. But clearly, the rank and file have continues to grate, bitch and express dissent and frustration since the beginning of this board.
Read the historic record. It matters little whether you side with the yeas or the nays, the intolerance, anger, slash and burn backbiting, the unveiling of overpaid hacks, the villification of individuals who have been fired or who should be and even theose who are just caught in the line of fire...it's all here in technicolor and Dolby 5.1.
Hundreds of threads later, a picture of an agency emerges that is neither the ludicrous compant that is portrayed by HR on Craig's List nor the corporate veneer on digitas.com or the demon some would make it out to be. Instead it's much more mundane and tired, a money making machine for many -- Hellman & Freidman, DK, MB and many others and a half baked amakgram of consulting company, agency, country club, sweatshop, bureaucracy and subway station for many on their career to someone else.
GT is just another rider at the rodeo. Taken with himself as an agenct of change in an agency that believes it is remaking an industry that is busy reinventing itself. CEO of Self Aggrandizement Inc.
We've seen it before. Whatever. Yawn.
