People have to let this out somewhere and believe me, it??s not for nothing. Though the sentiment has been quite heated lately (even with a characteristically inept response by the person in question), the root of the problem is this:
In a culture where the role of design is frequently misunderstood, a figure like the person mentioned serves as a reinforcement of a stereotype that exists only in two places: In the minds of people with no basic understanding of the design profession, or even basic visual culture, and in the personality of frauds who try to emulate what they perceive to be the function of a creative.
All of the traits that users on this board so disdain would be endearing if they were matched with any basic competency in any of the disciplines required for the role. However they are not and this suggests that the traits discussed are actually a flimsy screen for basic incompetence.
This is why so many people have a jump up and down screaming fit when even considering that someone like this has any capacity at DTAS. Its fake, and worse, the cumulative effect of poseurs like this makes partnering strategy and design just that much more difficult.
Attacking someone personally using their name on a message board is silly, and possibly a useless.
But if you are a true creative being an advocate for the profession is NEVER a waste of time, and in a culture like this one its 90% of the creative role.

If the agency only held itself to its own standards, threads such as these would be irrelevant. Unfortunately, this is not the case and in itself, is a $200k "welfare" case.
As for the man inquestions, what a monumental waste of shareholder money..a colossal no talent such as this only undermnes the creative culture at this agency and sets a poor example for leaderhip in the category ( and in the case of the Chicago office with disastrous effects)
Here's to a bettter 2006!
