Bachelors from a top University.....Masters in Health Management (No 1 Program) and MS in info Systems Management (top university)...about 6-7 years experience total....Healthcare Management experience = Healthcare Advisory/Consulting at another Big 4;Internal Consulting work at a major Health System; and Consulting work at a Health Plan....Financial Services experience = Worked at major Fortune 500 companies as project manager/analyst.
The thing is I think Deloitte wants to bring me in as a Senior Consultant and Accenture might bring me in as a Manager. How much should I expect from Deloitte with my experience as a Senior Consultant? or a Manager? (I am currently making in the 90s and eligible for a bonus). Which culture is better?
Any help would be appreciated!!! |

I work in Deloitte's S&O LS&HC group, so here are some personal observations that may help:
-Employment levels at the two firms do not match. DC's view is that you must perform at Manager level before being promoted to Manager. Thus, being hired in as an SC is fairly standard practice and if you prove yourself you should reach Manager level very soon.
-What part of the health care industry interests you? I think DC has a firm command as the top large consultancy in the health plan and hospitals space for strategy, execution, and implementation, and pharma/biotech is getting much stronger. My opinion is that ACN does not have as strong of a presence in the CXO suite in the healthcare industry, but is also very strong in implementation. I??ve seen us win more proposals over ACN than we lose, so that indicates to me how the industry views the two firms.
-Consider the culture differences very carefully. I've found DC??s LS&HC group to be nurturing and collaborative, and, if you perform well, the partners will do whatever they can to help you succeed, develop, and remain happy in the firm.
-What are your goals? If you plan to be in consulting for only 1-2 years, the $ may be a large factor. If you plan to be in it for 3-6+ years, culture and personality fit may outweigh a slight compensation difference.
Good luck!
