I am a former 3rd yr Manager that is considering returning after 3 yrs in Industry. The pay was nice relative to the work hours, but I got frustrated with the lack of motivation and drive from the business. That and, I hate to admit this, I kinda missed traveling. (I can't belive I am saying that out loud)
But one of the major concerns I have is the what the culture is like now that the "merge" has finalized and settled out. I have heard rumors that the D&T side has tightened the purse strings so much that it is even worse than when I left 3 yrs ago. I have also heard that the D&T Partners don't understand the Consulting work, and therefore focus just on hrs billed, not on value to the firm or client.
Can someone give me an idea of how the firm's culture seems to be these days?
Thanks! |

From my experience, alums are treated very respectfully. Why don't you call up some colleagues and just have a frank conversation over lunch?
If your contacts have left, find Sr. Manager of the industry area of your interest and set up a call. As you can imagine, they tend to have a better perspective since they're reaching their "up or out" phase of their DC career.
Good luck
