You gave that person a very fair answer. What type of work do we do on IS? Are they assessments of how innovative a company is and recommendations for improvement? |

Company X recognizes that the consumer demand for the bulk of their products and services are reaching critical mass and becoming commoditized.
They ask us to apply IS principles in identifying a) new markets to apply Company X's technologies, b) potential demand for new/better products in existing markets and how Company X can gain the first-movers advantage.
Pretty neat projects, but also overshadowed by the bulk of the other stuff we do.
