Currently a PC at Deloitte. But am trying to switch into consulting. Any advice from anyone out there on the best way to make the move and how to approach it is appreciated. Shooting for analyst/consultant position in S&O. I've talked to a few people who gave me good thoughts, but the more advice the better! |

but if you know several consulting partners/HR folks, you should be able to at least begin the process. I am going to say that it will depend on your background and your general performance during your time as a PC as well previous experience, internships, etc. If you've just been doing PC-type work all the time, then it might become a tougher sell. However, if you had internships during college that were industry-based (finance or not) or consulting-like in nature, you present a stronger case.
In any event, your path to consulting is easier because you are already a member of the firm and thus you hopefully have a couple of personal contacts within consulting that you can rely on. Additionally, project controllers already 'officially' work for Deloitte Consulting LLP legally so from an HR perspective, its also probably a little easier.
So, step one is to start having this discussion with consulting partners/managers/HR folks that you know personally. If you don't know any, then work on getting to know some.
