U just dont put in your transfer notice and boom, u'r there. Although it is fairly simple, the office you transfer to will look at your evals (they don't want to take in underperformers) and evaluate their staffing needs. This might result in a delay in when you want to transfer and when the new office will take you.
This is my third D&T office and my second transfer took about 2 months from start (asking for request to transfer) to end (signing offer letter of new office).
At minimum, you should go through one busy season at the OC office since the Dallas office has no reason to transfer staff with no experience when they can hire just one more undergrad from their local campuses.

very true....going through a transfer right now and you have to re-interview and everything - they make you send in your evals and the partners have to negotiate the timing of the transfer --it helps if you have a reason for transfering..ie sick parent, spouse job is making them move. Since you haven't signed a full-time offer yet talk to the recruiter in the Dallas office. I know of a couple of interns who have transfered before they received a full-time offer.
