There are many IT groups.
-Central IT handles infrastructure and availability.
-Production Technology (PT) and Countrywide Servicing Systems Development (CSSD) are the two main devlopment groups.
-There are a ton of small IT shops supporting various business units.
Lots of politics in Central IT, but this is where there is the most money. PT has a hiring freeze and it looks like most new jobs will be in India. CSSD has no talent, most of the hires are local or worked their way up from the bottom answering customer Service calls. Business Unit IT groups pay vary tremendously.
Countrywide has huge turnover. Not because they lay people off, but people leave because they are unhappy.

Hi James,
You seem to know a lot about Countrywide. I was recently offered a VP Application Dev position within Production Technology and am considering whether to accept it. Can you tell me more about the work environment, management, ethics, upward mobility. My package was quite attractive with a 20% bonus based on performance and MBOs. Is that bonus structure usually delivered?
Thanks for your input. If you can provide your email address, I'd like to correspond with you offline about this.
