The Firm is not cheap by any standards. In contrast, it is quite generous. In fact the Firm holds itself to a very strict Spirit of Generosity and this applies to our members, shareholders, and employees alike.
If you are staying in shabby hotels, perhaps it was due to poor planning as the hotel spending limits are very high by any standards. I just cannot believe that you were unable to stay in luxury hotels even before the recent spending limit increase.
What are you referring to as the cheapest discount airlines? American? Delta? United? U.S. Air?

Please give me a break. Have you ever spent q4 running from city to city on Easyjet and Ryanair to the most remote airports on completely norefundable tickets and staying and still getting pressure from the head of marketing for your travel costs? What luxury hotels are you talking about? Even CEB staff for the most part are not allowed to stay in the hotels that members stay in at the retreats.
Your are one of the reasons why CEB has such a high turnover rate ... you give completely wrong expectations of what the job entails and then people get pissed off later on when they realise they have been given the bait and switch.
This is much like the much acclaimed "Marketing Analyst" positions which was for the longest time portrayed as a marketing position when everyone knew that this was a call center job. And then you wonder why MA turnover is 50%+ over a typical 2 year run.
Just tell it like it is, CEB for life. Then people can decide if it is right for them or not. As you may know from CEB's own research on HR best practices, one of the worst things a recruiter can do is mislead a candidate. Not only does it make for disgruntled employees, but it also costs the company a whole lot of money.
CEB is not a bad company, but it is very different in kind from other environments. Unfortunately, your inane cheerleading does the company more harm than good.
