In Reply To: The smartest people are those who go to the quality public schools, the 'Public Ivies." Just think about it, you're going to UNDERGRAD school, learning from the SAME textbooks as everyone else. You SAVE about $100,000 over 4 years, and you still can get a great job if you do well. Don't be stupid and waste your parents money on a private school education.
Message: It doesn't matter where you go to school, it's what you get out of it. I attend a public school in New York State. I had did not have a very diverse upbringing. By attending public school I was able to interact with and meet people from various social and economic backgrounds that I would not have normally had the chance to associate with. I get a great education at a public college and when it is time for me to jump into the real world I will feel well prepared. I will feel prepared not because I went to the best college. I will feel prepared because I got as much as I could out of college. The academics is an important part of college but so are the social skills that one will acquire. Not only will I have my grades to show on my resume, but I will have a diverse background. When it comes to communicating with people in the future, it will be easy because I have already dealt with so many different races, religions, cultures and what not. I feel privilged to have been able to experience this in college and I only hope that everyone else has the chance to experience the same. And for all you Cornell people, the school I go to is SUNY Cortland, your neighbor!
