I discovered something very amusing in the previous posts. This thread essentially consists of Northwestern students insisting that they're in the Ivy-Plus (defined as the ivy league plus MIT, Chicago, and Stanford), and students from every other school disagreeing.
Northwestern is a good school. Why do you guys need constant assurance of this from others? It's not super-elite. It's not known for being really hard-core. Your bringing up your alma mater at a cocktail party will not necessarily bring gasps of appreciation and awe, but Northwestern is nonetheless still very respectable.
This obsession with prestige is ridiculous. If you're talented, people will recognize that regardless of which school you went to.
