hey belle,
i'm under the impression that you're going to school at vanderbilt. i recently graduated from vandy with a b.a. in econ.. currently, i am interning at an investment bank while applying to consulting firms here in l.a.
(shit, 2002 was the worst year to graduate!)
vandy is a good school academically but it still lacks the prestige of other top 20 schools. i found that to be true especially in the west coast. i live in l.a. and vandy gets little recognition out here. which is sad but understandable. pomona gets more respect out here than vandy.. (no disrespect to pomona or anything..) also, vandy's career center is catered to companies in the south. if you want to work in atlanta or nashville that's great but for peeps like me from l.a., it's not much help..
if you want to get somewhere with vandy's name and recognition, i advise that you stay in the south or east coast. we (vandy alums) get much more recognition out there.. just my .02
if you're ever in the los angeles area, hit me up:

What did you think of the social scene there at Vandy? Were you in a fraternity? It seems like Southern schools place more value on "going greek" than where I'm originally from, hence not the South. Since you're from LA, did you have some cultural shock going South?
I do agree it's got more name-recognition in the South and probably back East, so that's good advice about job opps.
What did you think of the econ program there?
Thanks for your input!
