In Reply To: I had worked in banking before entering SIPA. At SIPA I concentrated in EPD, thinking that with my previous banking experience, it wouldn't be necessary to concentrate in IFB (and, I wanted to work in emerging markets, so I thought the EPD concentration would give me an interesting perspective that IFB-ers might not have). I have tried to look for a job in banking, but NOTHING has worked out. Sure, part of it is that the banking sector is dead, but a lot of it is that banks would rather hire MBAs. They will only hire SIPA grads if -- IF -- there are any spots still available after they've looked through all the MBA candidates (I've had 2 recruiters at major banks tell me that). Hope that answers your questions. I would prefer not to give out my e-mail address here, but if you have any other questions and you're willing to give out your e-mail address, I can write to you. Good luck.
Message: Hi thanks for replying me - I wanted to ask you - if you could do it all again - what concentration would you choose at sipa in order to increase your chances for landing a banking position? i really want to study isp but i think i should choose a double concentration with that and something else, so i have have something to fall back on to get a job after i graduate - i am funding my education entirely with student loans so i really will need to find a good job after graduation...any advice would be appreciated...
