Who cares if you go to a good and expensive school? It just gives you more pressure to get a good job. The ends ... not the means. |

I received my BA from Berkeley and I am in a doctoral program at Stanford. Here's what I believe are the strengths and weaknesses of Berkeley and Stanford. If you want a strong foundation for your UG education, Berkeley is THE place to be. The competition is fierce and only the best survive. (CalTech and MIT are on this level, but Ivies are not even close) Stanford's advantage comes when you apply to graduate school, its vast resources (i.e. grant money, scholarships, better equipped labs) are FAR superior to Berkeley. (There are of course exceptions, for example college of engineering at Berkeley is very well funded, but the same cannot be said of other depts.) Remember: Berkeley UGs receive the most PhDs in the USA!
