Anyone at a top college or one who has graduated from one knows that the US News Rankings and whatever other ones are just bs. In terms of the best undergrad education you can get, CalTech aint it. Here are my thoughts:
1st tier: Chicago, Harvard, Princeton, Swarthmore, Williams, Yale
2nd tier: Amherst, Columbia, Dartmouth, Duke, MIT, Stanford
3rd tier: Brown, Cornell, Haverford, Johns Hopkins, Penn, Pomona

I cannot find anybody from Caltech or MIT to defend themselves here... They are just too busy with their work and they don't really care about the rank.
Only the insecure people care about their school rank.
