In Reply To: I am a senior in high school and planning on going to Chapel Hill. How is UNC undergrad regarded for Business? If i do well is it possible to get into a top grad school?
Message: As a kinda-native son (moved to NC when I was 2), I loved the state, BUT it is still undermanned in terms of national recruiting. It does offer the same education as elsewhere, and there are LOTS of hot girls there, but there is not a "top-tier" brand there. You can get a great alum network within the state, but look at last year for the real truth: management consultants and investment banks, which pay top-dollar for the smartest kids they can get a hold of, only recruited from the Ivies, Duke, Stanford, and maybe U of Michigan this year. UNC CH was completely skipped on the MBA level by most major consultants and i-banks. In this ugly new world, pay top dollar for a top-marketed education. HOWEVER you can definitely get into a top b school assuming you get an interesting position after graduating and have a good story to tell (and good GMATs).
