Columbia is a wonderful school. Solidly Ivy League, but not top tier like a Harvard or Stanford. Warning: The administration is aloof and largely bumbling, but the facilities are undergoing a major overhaul. Overall, having Manhattan at your fingertips is the best thing about Columbia. The neighborhood isn't all that bad, either. A lot of good ethnic restaurants
