I just graduate from W&M this may, and I'm very satisfied w/ the education I received. I had the choice of going to either: Cornell, Emory, Babson, UCLA, UVA, and William & Mary.
I chose W&M for several reasons: 1) The size. W&M's size is small enough to have that community type feeling, and big enough to have top rate facilities. 2) The Price. I paid a TOTAL of $12,000 a year for my tuition, room, board, misc, travel, and entertainment. You can't beat that. 3) The History. W&M is over 300 HUNDRED years old. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James MAdision, are all ALUMNI of the college. 4) The Programs. W&M is strong in History, English, Chemistry, Modern Languages, Business, and Economics.... they should be, they've had a long time to develop these programs!
I think for an undergraduate education, W&M definitely is a great choice. You don't ever have TAs teaching you, but full fledged professors who actually care and spend their lunches or evenings discussing w/ you. You don't feel like a number at W&M. My best advise is to also take a semester abroad to change perspectives.
Best of luck to you
