Okay, I've read all of your snobbish comments, but now I'd like to know what the real story is. I'm questioning my choice in college (no, it is not ivy league) and I want to know what to do. I was thinking about applying for a transfer to MIT (and I see that none of them took part in this silly little argument) and I wanted to know what people thought. Especially from the Alumi, what do companies really think of us non-ivy leaguers. And the NYU grad, would you really trade it all in for a new school? I've asked that question several times, but I've never recieved a straight answer. My professors, not to brag too much in fear of your asinine comments about what really happens to college professors, are really smart. They're real world smart. They are successful buisnessmen who teach in addition, and have already taught at ivy league schools including Harvard's MBA. They tell me that all of those people are just as freaking stupid as some of the people in my classes. So, how much does reputation of the school really count? Goldman Sachs hires people from my school as well? What do you people think when I say "Boston University School of Management." Sure it doesn't have a fancy name like Warton or Sloan, but is it just as good? We obviously have high caliber teachers, but we're still considered a second teir school. Is it in my best interest to think about transfering to MIT? And you can't even begin to tell me that its not a good school, so anyone thinking about saying so....shut up. |

Look, I am a junior in The School of Management at BU. This program has really taken off in recent years. Yes, there is a new building, but the managment program in this school is very intense. The problem is that many people do not realize this. So, it doesn't have the reputation as the 'best' (at least with US News), but in my opinion it is an excellent program. Only a matter of time before BU gets more recognition.
