As a prospective student I visited hopkins twice. I must agree that this school needs a major revamping. It has one of the most sickly looking student bodies I have ever seen. At 11:00 on a friday night we had to go and beg people to come out. More then that, the only place to go was the campus pub, where they don't even ID yet no one was there. It deserves a zero out of five stars for social life. Not only that, but some kids have two lab sciences in one day. That's up to eight hours of class a day. With no social life and all work its not even in the top ten. So why should I go there? |

Listen, I was in your shoes 4 years ago, I had to decide whether to choose Hopkins over several other top 15 schools. Trust me, judging the school based upon one lousy Fri night is not smart. If you think that way, you really shouldn't come to JHU. I do agree that 1st impressions are lasting, but look at this point: JHU is one of the only colleges where we have an on-campus pub. E-Level is alright, however, recently, the Po Po have been cracking down with underage drinking. There are several other bars in the area, where Loyola, Towson, Goucher and CONDOM girls (and boys) go.
Academically, this place is one of the hardest schools in the US, the GPA mean sucks as we don't inflate like Princeton, Duke and Harvard (don't even mention Stanford or Brown). There is talk about placing an amended inflated GPA on your transcript, because if you're not pre-med, grad school and job hunts are a bitch.
