In Reply To: For someone who has attended 5 of the top schools in the country (have you graduated yet?), you're pretty dumb. I'm not sure how/why you differentiate Notre Dame from schools such as Wash U., Virginia, etc., but if it makes you feel better, go for it. In reality, there are 2 groups: the top 5 to 10, and then the remaining top 25 schools. The education/quality of student/environment among the schools in these 2 groups are very consistent. I've received degrees from 2 of the top 25 (1 of which you would never attend) and did not notice a difference in caliber of student. Since then, I've worked with people from nearly every top 25 school and also could not tell the difference. There are not too many dummies at any of theses schools - the principal difference is that the ultra top students would probably go to one of the top 5 or so. By the way, I'm glad Notre Dame football sucks now.
Message: Actually, I received three degrees (B.A. from Penn, M.A. from Notre Dame, and M.B.A. from Harvard) from those institutions over a five year span of time. My relevant GPA from those institutions, were 3.5, 3.95, and 3.85, respectively. I spent semesters at Berkeley and Columbia. I guess Wash U grads don't think out of the box! My comments were made simply to defend the quality of a Notre Dame education and state the fact that Ivy League caliber students wouldn't consider attending Wash U, Virginia, Michigan, NYU, or UNC. P.S. I went to Notre Dame for an education, not to watch football.
