In Reply To: kestrelhunter, Like you, I interned with Cintas between my two years of an MBA. Like you, I had a good experience, was given some decent projects, and felt good about the idea of returning for a full-time position. I unfortunately made the mistake of accepting a position after graduation. I was extended an offer to return as a service director (managing the service managers). I showed up on my first day and was told that I needed to spend some time as a service manager, prove myself in that role first. I would have never taken the job had I known that I'd have to be a service manager. I could have had that job right out of the military...I certainly didn't need to spend $80K on an MBA to manage a team of SSR's. Anyway, I agreed, and soon realized that you just can't turn a service team around in a matter on a few months...any turnover is painful, since it takes a while to ramp up a new hire to achieve performance. As a service manager you spend a lot of time on route. Miserable. You are lost in the minutia...no big strategic thinking...you think day-to-day. How will I make my numbers today. That's the game. I had some problems with the company's ethics in dealing with customers, and I soon began to questions lots about how we did business. I tried to discuss some of my issues with superiors, but was quickly labeled a poor culture fit. I left before I could be managed out, and have found a job that is light years better in terms of responsibilities, advancement potential, and autonomy. I got my MBA from a top school, and there were 3 of us in my graduating class who went to Cintas. None of us lasted more than 18 months. We all had virtually the same experience, in different parts of the country. I know that Cintas looks good now...I was in your shoes. Just take my advice, Cintas is a terrible place to begin your post-MBA career.
Message: I am still in my undergrad at Rutgers University. I have an interview with Cintas for the internship you apparently experienced. You think this is just a waste of time eh?
