Today's NY Times has a bit of a mixed story on our girl Liz Ann. Gotta admit she looks pretty good in the photo though. I did not realize that she was "marketed" that hard by the company. Guess that's testament to my cluelessness. Anybody out there work with her on any of her public speaking work? Does it drive new business? |

I wonder why she is so promoted at Schwab.
As is well known, her husband was one of the honchos at Soundview Capital Management --- that Schwab bought and inevitably sold for loss --- sometime while Liz was employed at Schwab's U.S. Trust.
How likely is it, that the Soundview purchase was never mentioned at the Sonders table??
The Soundview purchase was disastrous for Schwab shareholders. I think in any other firm, the management would be embarrassed to be parading around someone from a couple who had involvement in that. (Consider: Liz Ann, as a Sonders, gets to share in the purchase price paid for Soundview by Schwab. But very likely does not share equally in the loss incurred. As a shareholder, that concerns me.)
Having a pretty face pitchwoman is maybe good marketing strategy. I just wonder if the Soundview gains have been given back?
