I work in a Schwab branch as a Financial Consultant. Recently we got a new Branch Manager. The manager came from a branch where she/he basically posted mediocre numbers at best. Since the new managers arrival at the branch I work at, she/he has been openly hostile to everyone in the branch. She/he has added absolutely zero value since arriving. All we have received is constant criticism and disparaging remarks made about the work we do. She/he has selectively decided to treat a fellow FC in an even more extremely hostile manner. Many of us in the office think it might even be playing along racial lines. No one in our office enjoys coming to work anymore. The new Manager is basically despised by everyone in the office. If a Managers actions are above and beyond harassing, what alternatives do we, as Schwab employee??s, have. I have been with Schwab for a long time and have never seen a manager like this. The people in the branch have absolutely no idea how this person got the job. Completely unqualified and zero people skills. If Schwab HR fails to take action, does anyone else have any other ideas. It??s really unfair how one particular FC in my branch is being treated so much worse than the rest of us, and this FC is very good at the FC job.

The trick to handle a manager problem is to ask HR for help. If you complain you are the one who is out. If you ask for help your manager is in trouble. The best way to handle the issue is first to get a few of your peers support. Now one of you call the HR generalist and ask for an appointment. Tell that person that you have been working for these many years and now you are having difficulty communicating / working with your manager. Tell them how much you value Schwab and your desire to continue in Schwab. You need to say "Somehow this is not working and I want this to work - I want your (HR) help to create a positive work environment". If some more of your peers start doing the same your manager will get it.
