if someone eventually goes to work as a NOC (it's not decided as part of the COE), then you just completely change your story and say your clearance was denied or you declined the offer and you've gone into whatever profession they give you. this is why i was hesitant to even mention that i was pursuing govt employment to most people because i didn't want them to even assume i was interested in the govt in case i run into them someday in the future while i am working as a noc. |

That's interesting because I've heard that some people were instructed not to mention the government at all. To just say you were applying for different jobs and to leave it at that. Which seems weak to me.
