In Reply To: Having an ivy league education won't make you more capable of doing anything better in the "real world," especially work in the intel field. At least, that is my impression - I had an intel officer coworker with a Princeton degree and our unit's intel still massively sucked (this is strictly speaking from a military intel persp). And, when I think of my fellow classmates, I can't imagine 90 percent of them doing anything intel related. As far as direct salary correlations go, the getting hired benefit is there, but the pay is more related to your experience, for which a degree from anywhere does not qualify.
Message: Generally I agree with you. It's all about how much substance you have, which has nothing to do with the school, but that's on the individual level. My only point about some schools atract certain professors/adjunct professors (those still working in the field), and/or "CIA in Residence" professors that all act as conuits to the agency whether it be direct recommendations or simply career advice. I'm not at an "ivy league" school but I am at one that attracts a sizable contingent of current or former agency folks, and that is the advantage IMO of certain schools vs. others. Having said all that, it is true that it all depends on what you do with it when you are in these study programs.
