Once you make it through the BI and start the job, make it through the farm, and actually start working overseas, I was curious if anyone knows how compensation works?
Specifically, if you are working under official cover, does the USG provide housing? Tansportation? Other benefits?
If so, then the salary ranges are really quite generous considering what expenses will be.

it would be just like any state dept. employee (and NOC is certainly at least as generous depending on your cover). your housing is provided free of charge, it may be furnished, and a car may be provided in certain cases, or you bring your own. you also receive certain hardship and danger allowances (up to 25% each) depending on the country. so basically, your salary is very adequate for covering your basic expenses in most countries, especially 3rd world ones.
