In Reply To: ...in the know as some other people. However, again from what I've gathered on here, it does not matter whether you applied to the DI or the DO. The BI and adjudication is within the realm of the Security office that makes the decision based on the info collected during the background investigation.
Message: The security clearances are uniform throughout the government. Those won't vary. However, the suitability review (which is separate)leaves any agency w/some discretion. They could have different standards for the DI and DO even of they collected the same information in the BI. Since the DO demands are more rigorous than those of DI, different suitability standards would make sense. Almost all the rescinded COEs mentioned on this board have pertained to suitability reasons. In fact, I can't recall anyone who has been denied a clearance.
