Many applicant's that apply have extensive experience overseas, and unless you are a hermit, you are going to form relationships with friends, some of which lead to more right?
I would think that DI analysts that have spent time abroad have an advantage in terms of avoiding 'mirror imaging' etc. and DO types would have advantage because they know how to make friends (read influence/manipulate) foreigners.
As far as clearance goes, if your signifiacant other is not a US citizen, they must be interviewed, and possibly polygraphed, and be in the process of applying for US citizenship.
One thing to keep in mind, if serios about pursuing a career in this area (clearly we are otherwise we wouldn't be 'chatting' on this board) then it's a good idea to plan and talk with other partner ahead of time since you DO NOT want to be in a situation where you only talked vagualy about it and then when the wife is asked to revoke her home country citizenship (can happen) she refuses, and you are left with a choice of relationshp or intel career. PLAN, PLAN, PLAN...

Yeah, right now I'm in the position where I'm just trying to play it by ear a bit (as I'm not in a relationship, but could if I wanted to pursue it, nor am I "in" with respect to my clearance). Naturally, the other person has no idea what's going on now. I'm just trying to figure whether there's any chance of doing both, or, if I have to make a decision (i.e. I am cleared and want/am able to pursue a relationship) what I'd do.
Just analyzing the situation :P
