It kind of depends on what job you are applying for. What is for sure is you can't work at places like the peace corps after working at the agency (not allowed). Internatioanal Relations/national security studies are the best bet for a lot of positions. Overseas experience is a plus however you get it. |

I'd never heard that you can't work at the Peace Corps after CIA, but according to a former co-worker who had served in the Peace Corps, when he applied to CIA, he was told that he would have to wait until 5 years after leaving the Corps before CIA could hire him. (I should point out I don't know what job he was applying for, so I'm not sure if this is a DO restriction or Agency-wide.)
As for the reason behind this, he was told that this is a deal the CIA has made with the Peace Corps so it doesn't look like there's a revolving door between the two. Otherwise certain countries might suspect their Peace Corps volunteers of being spies.
