In Reply To: ...and hope it works out! I know what you mean by it not feeling right to 'ditch' a company once you are accepted by CIA, but this is a unique interview process (read longwinded) that there's not too much choice. If you aren't doing something in the meantime you'll go crazy. Best way is to do something that will add value for when you do eventually join CIA. One thing to note: at an info session I attended, the recruiter said that they contact your current employer after the med/poly so by that stage advised that we inform our employer of our plans - kind of tricky, but suppose as long as you apply to CIA before joining you can say you thought your chances were slim and forgot about it to the new company. Not sure about your university, but at mine alumni can still participate at job fairs and utilize career advice, etc. Hope that helps.
Message: For those who have any prior clearances, what I am doing is simply asking my investigator to say they are updating my clearance from a prior job. So long as your current employer is not in the national security arena, that should not raise any alarm bells and still allow the investigator to make the necessary inquries regarding your track record at your current job.
