Have any of the DI candidates on this board had any discussions regarding transferring to the DO once you start? I vaguely remember being told during my interview that you have to wait a certain period (3 years?) before you can apply for such a transfer. Comments? |

Remember when you come into the DI, a part of your training is an assignment in another group, which could be in another directorate such as DST or DO. Granted that if you were to take a DO assignment you wouldn't likely be in the field as a case officer, but you would likely gain considerable insight into operations even in a support function. I wouldn't be surprised if they approached analysts to transition to the DO based on observing their personality once they were onboard.
