In Reply To: comments like this show you know nothing. maybe you are just trying to provoke an argument, but it's pretty ignorant to say stuff like that. the job of a case officer is about 99% mental, so why would a woman be at a disadvantage??? everyone from mahle to gerecht say women play a pivotal role in operations.
Message: I do agree that saying that the DO is no place for women is a bit outrageous (I am a female after all). However, I was told something very interesting by a 30 yr retired ops guy. When I expressed interest in picking up some Arabic, he told me it was essentially useless since I was a woman. This is merely because of cultural issues. Although women are equally capable in the field, in most cases, an arab man will not give the same respect to a female case officer as they would a male, that is if they agree to speak with the woman to begin with. For all intents and purposes, a male case officer has a clear advantage in the arab world. This being said, women have a distinct advantage in many other parts of the world, where they can essentially use their good looks as 'bait' for an agent. That's just my two cents.
