I look at it this way: Take all the things they list on their website as desirable in an applicant and use it as a checklist:
Foreign Travel
Foreign language proficiency
Prior residency abroad
Military experience
A background in Central Eurasian, East Asian and Middle Eastern languages
Degrees and experience in international economics and business,
35 years old or younger
How many checks do you come up with? Did you add any in between applications? Notice they list languages twice. I personally think that speaking a foreign language, in particular a mission critical one, can be a deal breaker. If you don??t come in with languages you must undergo training for a year or more. Learning a language on your own time shows commitment and an international focus (and ultimately less training time). You can be the most personable person in the world, but if you can??t speak the language of country X then you can??t recruit. Just my two cents.

I have read this thread with much interest. I was deemed unsuitable for DI a few months ago. This determination was made 2 months after poly.
Letter said I could reapply in one year.
Now, I see here that some think that if you are deemed unsuitable after poly then you are doomed for life. Is this true? Anyone have any experience conflicting with this? I ask because CIA is my dream and I plan on reapplying as soon as one year is up.
So is the one year wait just boilerplate stuff? Are some people blackballed for life?
