well, they definitely stressed the blackmail thing with me becuase certain foreign intel agencies are great at it. the US never really figured out how to do it, partly because soviet men couldn't care less if you presented them with photos of them having sex. But I agree that they also want to find out who they are sending into the field, but inquiring into one's sexual history means they don't want people with deviant habits. why else would they care about this if it weren't for blackmail or agency embarassment? |

Re: Sleeping with sheep - Agreeing with Surfer and cm about the stress on personality-screening purposes of the poly in DO. Trying to extract information about your sexual history is most likely a test of stress-handling and antiquated personal integrity than an effort to stem blackmail photos. If officers are trained to resist torture, what makes you think the notion of a compromising photo will so drastically weaken their resolve? I'm sure if you're caught in bed a fundamentalist has better things to do to you than take sexy snapshots and wait for 15 years in anticipation of you becoming top brass in the intelligence community.
Re: improving your chances in the meanwhile - I always had the impression it is much easier to qualify for PT/CST than get into CST on your own. PT applicants are college kids; they pop out of undergrad with no experience and within 18 months of reception work at Langley are shoulder-to-shoulder with JDs and Masters Grads. If you don't get into PT, how can you effectively prove you're CST material? Is it wise to cut your career short and join a D.C. internship in hopes CST opens its arms to you?
