I'm dual UK/US and the recruiter specifically told me that CIA does not make people give it up and agreed that it would be an asset. However, I do agree that you have to get past the 'foreign influence' bias in the security clearance process. What I'm saying is that CIA doesn't seem to automatically ask you to revoke. Some DoD agencies do though. You have to be willing to give it up though - that is critical in the clearance process. |

Mil, intel and gov admin domains have encountered a wide variety of deuces and zips in the wire in recent years - even in recent months. E.g., a White House staffer was recently found to be serving another master (Philippines / Estrada).

The general liberalization of social, political and philosophical standards in the past few decades is at axiomatic odds with the notion of screening candidates for security- sensitive positions. Post- 911 conundrums only exacerbated this state of affairs.

The foreign (and other) influence factor(s) depends largely on the perceptual, interviewing, and profiling skills of both the interviewer and the BI personnel - along with varietal agency policies, practices and standards of the moment.

Be advised: Some of what you thought were simple personal and philosophical idiosyncracies - even recent casual conversations - may be revisited during interviews (if everybody's done their job correctly).
