In Reply To: What's the difference between sen. intel service and Sen. analytic service? I was checking out the DIA page for job openings and saw that senior analysts were offered spots at about 135k, which is well above the usual gs-14 pay. any idea how long it usually takes somebody to go from gs-9 to 11 or 14 (typically)? thanks again
Message: In November, 2001, Congress stated that it believes that an important factor contributing to the attrition among the senior ranks is dissatisfaction with the promotion policies within various Agency directorates. Accordingly, Congress directed the CIA Inspector General to conduct an inspection of the CIA's promotion policy of all Agency employees as well as those in the Senior Intelligence Service from 1995 to present, and to provide a written report to the intelligence oversight committees by March 1, 2002. As far as I can tell, that report remains classified and the details from it have not been released. So we do not know anything about promotion patterns, other than there are problems at the upper levels. Things have to be worse with contractors throwing money at people to do the same job for twice as much money...but not us rookies...only the initiated.
