In Reply To: From my previous experience in goverment, the "big" promotion is to GS-14, the last in the regular grades before reaching the senior intelligence service (note that the Senior Analytic Service is NOT the same thing). And this is an excellent question...but as far as I know, career paths are not clearly laid out for applicants at this stage of the game. This is a great question to pose to the office reps when you visit. Ask what their experiences are. People are not shy about revealing Grades, just Grades PLUS Steps.
Message: What's the difference between sen. intel service and Sen. analytic service? I was checking out the DIA page for job openings and saw that senior analysts were offered spots at about 135k, which is well above the usual gs-14 pay. any idea how long it usually takes somebody to go from gs-9 to 11 or 14 (typically)? thanks again
